Home and building modifications
We look at the barriers a person experiences in their own home and consider how appropriate modifications can improve accessibility, safety, independence and participation.
What modifications can include
- Safer bathroom access and accessible showers
- Improved toilet access
- Ramps and entry access
- Wider doorways and better circulation space
- Accessibility around bedrooms and living areas
- Transfer-related modifications
- Other disability-related modifications
Good to know
Home modifications may need an assessment, professional recommendations and NDIS approval before any work starts. We will explain what applies to you.
Home modification support is a separate service from our everyday disability support. You can use one without the other.
How it works
- 1
Tell us about the barrier
What is hard at home right now: getting in, showering, moving between rooms, transferring?
- 2
Assessment
An occupational therapist or other qualified professional assesses the home and your needs, if this has not happened already.
- 3
Recommendations and approval
Modifications are scoped from the professional recommendations and submitted for NDIS approval where needed.
- 4
Planning and coordination
We coordinate with you, your family, your OT and appropriately qualified trades.
- 5
Work and review
Work goes ahead once approved, and we check the result meets your needs.
